About

At Grand Union Station, the architecture echoed the stunning production design of *The Queen’s Gambit*, inviting audiences to step into Beth Harmon’s topsy-turvy world and experience the game firsthand. Capitalizing on the series’ record-breaking viewership and a 215% surge in chess set sales, we recreated the iconic “upside-down chessboard” from the show by suspending a 30-foot-tall chessboard above a life-sized statue of Beth—designed in VR and 3D-printed with a wood-grain finish—that appeared to be plotting her next move. This immersive installation seamlessly integrated with the station’s aesthetic, transforming Union Station into a cultural landmark where crowds gathered, photos were snapped, and Instagram feeds buzzed with excitement, all while conveying Netflix’s message that viewers are just “one story away from learning to master the game.”
